Intermountain Gas Signs Agreement to Secure Natural Gas Capacity to Support Idaho Growth

BOISE, IDAHO – May 11, 2026 – Intermountain Gas Co. (IGC), a subsidiary of MDU Resources Group, Inc., has signed a precedent agreement to secure firm transportation capacity on the proposed Rockies Columbia Connector (RCC) pipeline project.

Under the agreement, Intermountain Gas will contract for 100,000 dekatherms per day of natural gas transportation capacity, positioning the company to meet growing energy demand across its Idaho service territory.

The proposed RCC project, being developed by Williams Northwest Pipeline, is expected to deliver approximately 275,000 dekatherms per day of natural gas through the Silver Spur Expansion into the Idaho market when complete, helping address increasing demand driven by population and economic growth in the region. Silver Spur represents the first phase of Williams’ RCC project.

“This agreement underscores Intermountain Gas’s commitment to meeting the energy needs of our customers and the communities we serve,” said Garret Senger, MDU Resources chief utilities officer. “By securing long-term transportation capacity, we are taking a proactive step to ensure reliable, cost-effective natural gas service as Idaho continues to grow.”

The need for additional natural gas infrastructure in Idaho has been identified through the company’s integrated resource plan, reflecting sustained growth and the importance of reliable energy supply.

The Rockies Columbia Connector project represents a significant expansion of regional pipeline infrastructure and is expected to support long-term energy needs in Idaho and the broader Pacific Northwest.

IGC anticipates the project will be placed in service early in 2030.
