EMMETT, IDAHO – New Gas Main Construction Update
June 5, 2018
As part of ongoing efforts to maintain safe and reliable service to customers in the Emmett area, Intermountain Gas will begin construction on a new 6”gas mainline January 22nd, 2018. The project begins at Main Street traveling South on Mill Road to Sales Yard Road, traveling East to Substation Road then up the hillside below Freeze Out Hill, traveling North under HWY 16 to the East side of HWY 16 then South along HWY 16 to W Deep Canyon Drive North of Eagle. Work will primarily be done adjacent to HWY 16.
Work will be mostly underground boring construction. There will also be some open trench work. This work will be completed simultaneously. Flaggers will be monitoring and directing the flow of traffic as necessary and required. Please be observant and drive carefully through these areas as trucks and other equipment will be entering and exiting the Right of Way. Expect some delays in these construction areas. The project is scheduled for completion by September 7th, 2018. If you have questions, please contact Intermountain Gas at 208-377-6840 in the Treasure Valley and 800-548-3679, all other areas. They can provide information regarding the gas line operation and new service requests for residents.
*** On June 5th, 2018 a pressure test will be conducted at the blowdown/purge location near E Sales Yard Road and Substation Road between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Nearby (Substation Road/South Slope Canal) residents will be personally notified by representatives from Intermountain Gas and DAS-CO of IDAHO prior to the test. There will be a loud, sustained sound created by nitrogen, used for pressure testing, being purged through the pipeline. The noise impact of the pressure testing will last 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Intermountain Gas is dedicated to the safety of its employees and the public and urges drivers to use caution and reduced speeds through the work zone. Thank you for your patience as we complete this project.
