do I know if my property has customer owned underground
often, customer owned underground piping is found
serving gas appliances outside of the structure (i.e.
pool boilers, shops).
Typically, but not always, the
easiest way to identify customer owned underground
piping is to go to your meter and look at the downstream
piping (the piping going from the meter to your structure).
If there is a tee in the piping and the line coming
out of the tee is steel or iron and runs downward
and into the ground, you most likely have customer
owned underground piping. If the underground piping
is plastic it is not subject to the same requirements
as steel and iron pipe.
